Hand woven silk pile carpet - 152 x 236cm

Price
£4,755

A traditional carpet after a Persian Bakhtiari design, circa 1920, with pure silk pile hand woven on a cotton warp and weft foundation to 256 knots per square inch.

The use of detail coupled with the specific tones of the blue in the border and rich browns along with hints of green and yellow in the center of this piece are truly evocative of Persian rugs of this era. The unique blocked pattern of this rug is reminiscent of a quilt, giving this particular carpet the welcoming feel of a collectible heirloom. Crafted in hues and having a polychrome garden design with panels of weeping willows, floral sprays and flowering plants inspire conversation.

This carpet has been woven in Bhadohi, India by highly skilled weavers in workshops personally visited by the directors of Brights of Nettlebed, Robert and Henry Stamp. Each square metre takes approximately 40 days for two family members to weave before completeing a thorough finishing process.
