18th century Rococo style Chimney piece and overmantel mirror

An impressive giltwood chimney-piece and overmantel mirror, entirely hand made after an original Rococo piece, c.1750 at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The frame has been hand-carved in laminated, solid mahogany by a dedicated team of five expert craftsman under the guidance of Brights of Nettlebed director, Henry Stamp. After many months of carving, the piece was oil gilded in metal leaf and finished with a shaped base in White Carrara marble.

Rococo emerged in France in the 1720s and remained the predominant design style until it fell out of fashion in the 1770s. Excessively flamboyant and characterised by a curved asymmetric ornamentation and a use of natural motifs.

This is an exclusive hand made item available to view and purchase. Bespoke commissions undertaken.
