A mahogany, chestnut burl veneered, parcel gilt and finely brass decorated Bar cabinet. The pierced brass gallery top above two faux drawer fronted cabinet doors and centered by a further doors with a columned grand entrance with finely cast and pierced brass mounts, the doors enclosing a lit, fitted and mirror backed interior with two drawers and adjustable glass shelves, above a base with a concealed drawer and square legs with fretwork spandrels brackets and block feet.
Inspired by a 17th century Spanish Collector's Cabinet at Althorp in red tortoiseshell with very fine brass mounts. The base of the cabinet would have originally been different but the Althorp cabinet was adapted in the Georgian period and in the Chinese Chippendale style. The original central cabinet door contains a classical figure and would likely have been mounted on claw and ball feet which in the Althorp example were removed.
