Inlaid Chest of Drawers as Victor Chinnery
About this Piece
A very fine example of an English oak chest of drawers (circa 1680). This a limited edition piece faithfully copied from an original design illustrated in Victor Chinnery’s book: Oak Furniture The British Tradition. It is handmade throughout from European oak. Each drawer is decorated with applied oak mouldings and marquetry inlay but we have used boxwood, pear and mahogany veneers in place of the bone that would have been used on the original. The marquetry pieces are cut and applied by hand in the traditional manner. Two of the drawers have hand-made locks. The engraved handles and escutcheons are English made from solid brass. This version is on bun feet.
Due to the retirement of our oak cabinet maker after 30 years of partnership, we are offering this unrepeatable collector's piece from stock only. Two only made.
