About this Piece
The Tudor Knole is inspired by an important original drop arm sofa in Knole House, Kent - the design has been adapted to meet the demands of current day comfort levels. Traditionally upholstered over a hand made solid beech frame - dowelled, screwed and glued for strength. The seat has individual steel coil springs which are hand tied and sewn onto hessian webbing within a frame.
The seat cushions are fibre filled for a traditional look that requires less plumping compared to feather. The scatter cushions are filled with duck feather for sumpuous comfort. Upholstered in a high quality fabric (price band 4) sourced directly from Belgian mills, with coordinating hand made tie backs securing the drop arms. The sofa sits on glides, hidden behind a pelmet, for manoeuvrability.
