Archduke Leopold Wilhelm In His Picture Gallery, C.1647 in style of David Teniers


A specially commissioned oil painting depicting The Archduke Leopold Wilhelm in his Painting Gallery in Brussels.  The original was commissioned by the Archduke as a gift for Philip IV of Spain, it is thought so that he could show off the magnificence of this Brussels gallery.

The painting shows the Archduke as a collector with friends admiring a set of paintings. The artist himself is standing at a table inspecting engravings.
