This magnificent Thomas Johnson Gilt Mirror is hand carved on solid mahogany and gilded in gold leaf.  This mirror is the combined work of craftsmen accross the world and was hand carved by a dedicated team of experts under the guidance of Brights of Nettlebed director, Henry Stamp.

This George II style giltwood pier mirror features an intricate depiction of Aesop's fable of the Fox and the Grapes, from which term 'sour grapes' entered the English language.

Thomas Johnson was a fine carver and gilder who released his book 'A Collection of Designs' in 1758.  As the master of rococo his elaborate designs were extremely influencial of the style of work produced during this period.
