The Mahogany Serpentine Chest
The Mahogany Serpentine Chest
A grand George II-style mahogany bombe chest of drawers from the Althorp Living History Collection. This impressive piece features a moulded rectangular top above a traditional brushing slide, with four gracefully serpentine, graduated drawers below. Each drawer is fitted with finely cast brass escutcheons and classic drop handles, reflecting the craftsmanship and attention to detail characteristic of 18th-century English furniture.
Set on a solid plinth base with ogee bracket feet, the chest offers both visual presence and functional storage, making it a refined addition to any bedroom, hallway, or formal interior. Its bold bombe shape and rich mahogany finish evoke the elegance of the original Georgian design, circa 1770.
Part of the Althorp Living History Collection, this piece draws inspiration from the historic furnishings of Althorp House and is officially endorsed by Earl Spencer, celebrating centuries of British heritage and design excellence.
