A handmade chest of drawers inspired by an 18th-century Dutch East India Company writing table, an original of which is displayed in our showroom.
Crafted from solid mahogany and burr oak veneers, the chest features a matched burr oak top, accented with a fine sycamore inlay. It stands on ebonised barley twist legs, which extend to a carved frieze, reflecting period craftsmanship.
The Dutch East India Company dominated the spice trade in the 17th century, operating nearly 5,000 ships and sending close to a million Europeans to Asia. This piece pays tribute to that era, bringing a historical design into a contemporary setting.
