A attractive mahogany display cabinet exclusively designed after an early 19th century Thomas Hope pedestal desk. In carefully selected flame mahogany veneers throughout the exterior, the glazed upper section has two Hafele spotlights and toughened glass shelves with adjustable height settings. The drawers and cupboard doors each have an ebonised perimeter and are finished with a floral brass knob. The drawers are baize lined and the cupboard below has a shelf which is adjustable to three height settings. The rounded corners to the front of the piece are decorated with an elegant ebonised linear design.
Thomas Hope was an influential furniture designer. His extensive Grand Tour travels in Europe, Greece, Turkey and Egypt inspired his interest in antiquities as a source of designs for Regency interiors and furniture. His designs contributed to the classic revival of English furniture in the early 1800's.
