The oval frame has gadrooned edging with acanthus leaves above supporting a basket of flowers, with bell flowers descending to the sides.  

The frame has been entirely hand carved in solid mahogany and water gilded in 23¾ carat gold leaf, toned with a ‘bright and matt’ effect, the highlighted areas burnished with an agate stone and there is slight distressing to expose the bole beneath.
