A Bakhtiari design carpet based on a 20th Century original, with pure silk pile hand woven on a cotton foundation to 256 knots per square inch. The design is taken from an original workshop piece of unusual execution. Harmoniously coloured floral bouquets are distributed right across the field in an almost realistic manner. The small filigree rose bouquets on their violet-blue ground are subordinate to the miniature medallions in lighter colours, outlined in red, the two vine borders, one decorated with leaves, the other with palmettos are of almost equal weight. The precise drawing streams are from an unusually fine weave, even for the Bakhtiari area.
